What the $30 Installation Fee Covers

The one time $30 installation fee at Fathom Labs covers getting your miner installed and hashing at our Southeast Texas facility. For miners bought from us, shipping and import duty are already included in the miner price, so there is no separate import fee.

It is paid once at signup, not recurring. After onboarding, your only ongoing cost is the electricity rate: $0.07/kWh for miners bought from us, or $0.08/kWh for miners you bring yourself (minimum 10 units per order).

What the Fee Covers, and What the Miner Price Covers#

1. Installation

Physical installation at our Southeast Texas facility includes: racking your hardware in an appropriate bay (air cooled or hydro cooled), PDU cabling, network cable runs, initial firmware check, mining pool configuration (pointed to your pool and wallet), and a functional health check to confirm the machine is hashing before we consider onboarding complete.

2. Shipping Coordination

We manage the logistics of getting your hardware from its origin to our Southeast Texas farm. For miners purchased directly from us, shipping is included in the miner price. For client supplied hardware (bought elsewhere, minimum 10 units per order), we coordinate inbound receiving at our facility.

3. Import Duty

Whatsminer hardware is manufactured in China. Importing into the United States requires customs clearance and payment of applicable import duties. For miners bought from us, import duty is included in the miner price and we handle customs clearance. This matters most for international clients in Taiwan and Hong Kong deploying hardware at our US facility.

No. The $30 installation fee is a one time charge paid at signup. After onboarding, the only recurring cost is the electricity rate: $0.07/kWh for miners bought from us, or $0.08/kWh for miners you bring yourself (minimum 10 units per order).

At signup, you pay two items: (1) the one time $30 installation fee; and (2) a refundable deposit equal to two months of electricity, each month calculated from your hardware's power draw × 720 hours × $0.07/kWh ($0.08/kWh for miners you bring yourself). After that, ongoing billing is only the monthly electricity charge.

No. The installation fee covers the work of getting your hardware operational at our facility: racking, cabling, configuration and a health check. It does not include the hardware itself. You purchase the hardware separately (Whatsminer from us, with shipping and import duty included in the price, or bring your own miners of any brand in orders of at least 10 units, hosted at $0.08/kWh).

No. Many Whatsminer ASIC miners are manufactured in China and shipped internationally, and import duty and customs clearance are required when hardware enters the United States. For miners bought from us, that cost is included in the miner price and we handle the customs process, so clients (particularly international clients in Taiwan and Hong Kong) do not need to manage it themselves.
